Breaking News: Yankees to Hire Matt Blake as New Pitching Coach

Being reported today by ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Yankees now have their newest pitching coach in Matt Blake.

Most recently, Matt Blake was a part of the Cleveland Indians’ organization where he worked as the assistant director as part of the Indians’ player development.

Outside of major league baseball, he was also a pitching director for Cressey Performance, and also owns the company Elite Pitching Development.

This is also not Matt Blake’s first stint in working with the Yankees, as he- according to his LinkedIn- has been an area scout for them since 2010.

As more information comes out, we will update. Check inside for tweets about what MLB insiders think:

(Hint: This is looking like a great move.)

Breaking News: Yankees Fire Pitching Coach Larry Rothschild (Tweets)

After the Philadelphia Phillies announced the hiring of Joe Girardi as their new manager, people started to speculate about what that move might mean for other personnel around baseball. Especially for those who have worked on a Girardi-led coaching staff in the past.

12up from MSN Sports was one of the first to report that a move for the Phillies to make would be going after Yankees long-time pitching coach Larry Rothschild, based on a tweet from Phillies Insider Jim Salisbury.

All that is a precursor to a move first speculated by Buster Olney (of ESPN) and then confirmed shortly after by Joel Sherman (of the NY Post): the New York Yankees are firing Larry Rothschild.

The Yankees have officially announced this decision on Twitter.

(We will update this post as more information becomes available.)

Brian Cashman Press Conference: Injuries, Personnel, Missed Acquisitions, and More

Earlier today at Noon, Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman (and Manager Aaron Boone) sat down to talk with the Yankee media today at the Stadium.

But, with it being the end-of-the-season, some information has now been brought to the limelight about issues many Yankees fans see as serious things the organization needs to change, including the training staff, their failure to acquire a starting pitching ace, and some more.

Breaking News: Yankees Pitcher Domingo German Placed on Leave Under MLB's Domestic Violence Policies

Breaking News: Yankees Pitcher Domingo German Placed on Leave Under MLB's Domestic Violence Policies

In a year that has been highlighted by the sheer amount of injuries that have sidelined what would’ve been key contributors to the 2019 Yankees (Giancarlo Stanton, Luis Severino, Dellin Betances to name a few), the Yankees will now be continuing the season, at least temporarily, without one of their biggest surprises of the season in pitcher Domingo German.

Earlier today, as announced by the MLB, Yankees pitcher Domingo German (#55) will be placed on administrative leave under the joint league’s (MLB) and players association’s (MLBPA) domestic violence policies. The Yankees have issued statements in regards to this recent news. The MLB has not yet, and will not comment on the issue until an investigation has taken place.

The MLB Department of Investigations has currently started an investigation, which is what led to German’s leave of absence. This initial period of leave will last up to 7 days, barring an extension by either office (MLB or MLBPA).

As more information becomes available, updates to this post (or others) will occur.

No Longer an IL Baker's Dozen; Clint Frazier's Back and Updates for the 12 Names on the IL

After last nights rain-shortened win, the Yankees optioned LHP Stephen Tarpley back to the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders in preparation for the call earlier today, activating OF Clint Frazier off the 10-Day IL.

In a season that has been plagued by injuries, the list is finally starting to shrink as a lot of players have been recently returning from injury (Andujar, Sabathia, Sanchez), and more seem to be coming back soon.

This past week, we have seen the return of 3B Miguel Andujar, but also saw the Yankees placing LHP James Paxton on the 10-Day IL with left knee inflammation.

But, times (should be) looking up for Yankee fans, as many of the names on the IL are making big and important strides towards returning to the Big Leagues. Let’s take a quick look at them:
