A walk-off hit is one of the most exciting plays in baseball, even more so when it comes in a World Series.
This week and next, we’ll be looking at ten Yankees who delivered, allowing jubilant crowds to go home without further ado. Now, these are all easy to look up, but you are requested to limit yourself to the card images, the clues and your memories — in other words, NO PEEKING!
This player’s home run gave the Yankees a 1-0 win and Casey Stengel the win in his first WS game as manager (he’d win 36 more in his career). Both were pretty reliable! 1949 WS, Game 1.
