Beware the Ides of March! So was the warning to Roman dictator Julius Caesar, but he could not avoid his fate on the 15th of March, 44 B.C.E. This week’s theme relates to that event. Thanks again to Paul for letting me have this fun.
WEDNESDAY: Caesar’s great-nephew and adopted son, Augustus became Rome’s first emperor. It was under his former name, though (similar this player’s), that he defeated the fleet of Mark Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium. This player, BTW, is likely less famous as a Yankee than for what he participated in doing to the Yankees.
