There is actually a Yankee connection to Pete Rose receiving the nickname "Charlie Hustle". Rose claimed it originated sarcastically from Mickey Mantle. After an aggressive baserunning display in a 1963 spring training game, Mantle reportedly quipped to reporters, "Did you see that Charlie Hustle beat us today?". Others attribute the nickname to Yankees pitcher Whitey Ford, who supposedly coined it after witnessing Rose sprint to first base on a walk during that same spring training.

Today, we lost another one. Ozzie Virgil Sr., the first Dominican-born player in Major League Baseball, passed away at age 92. Virgil Sr paved the way for generations of Dominican players. Since becoming the very first one, over 900 Dominicans have played in the majo…

I did not like him at all as a person. But players like Ty Cobb are in the Hall Of Fame, and Cobb was also a horrible human being both on and off the field. He is in their because of what he did on the PLAYING FIELD, playing Major League Baseball, and the extraordinary numbers he put up. I was glad that Rose was banned from baseball for life. He deserved that. 100%. I am also glad that he was never reinstate…

Not really. The lessons of the past give us tons of insights. Not to say every prediction about the future is a given, but there are such electives in Ivy League schools (and possibly other institutions, called "The History of the Future."

The criteria used to predict the future, simply put, is past history...
