In many post seasons, an unlikely player becomes a hero by performing at a high level and doing something remarkable.
Have some fun today. Name who that might be for the Yankees and share what his remarkable achievement will be.
Having the SWB game in, I really liked his call on Peraza's solo HR - 'swung on (pause) Goodbye'
I'll say as a group - the returning injured players lead the way. Rizzo, Schmidt, Berti. And a coming out Party for Jasson Dominguez
I would go with Anthony Rizzo. He is one of only 3 current Yankees to have made it to and played in a World Series (Rizzo, Soto, Cole), and one of only 2 current Yankees (Rizzo, Soto) to actually WIN a World Series. Anthony Rizzo literally caught the last out in the 2016 World Series, so he would be my pick to be the "surprise player" to do something special this coming post season.
IF he makes the post season roster, and he may not, but IF he does, and IF he starts, Trent Grisham has the potential to be that player. Grisham OWNED the Mets during the 2022 Wild Card Series and was named the MVP of that series…
Leiter
what could be more wonderful ..... and highly unlikely..... as would be Leiter pitching a hitless inning in nearly every post-season game, including World Series games and striking out 40% of the hitters he faces?
