It was also good to learn about the book about "The Scooter" Phil Rizzuto. There has never been a baseball broadcaster before or since who was as likable and as enjoyable to watch or to listen to, as Phil Rizzuto. He may not have been as polished and as "professional" as many of today's baseball broadcasters, or of broadcasters before him, but he was better because he made the broadcasts entertaining. He even made a rain delay entertaining with his storytelling and his banter with Bill White, who played the perfect "straight man" to Rizzuto's zaniness, plus Rizzuto's quirks and nuances, which included his fear of bugs, his fear of lightning, and his habit of leaving early to beat …
WOW! That's a lot of books! I am so glad you gave Roy White the recognition he deserves. In addition to his feats as a Yankee player, he was very much a part of the ORIGINAL original Yankee Stadium, the 1923 to 1973 version of it. One of my lasting memories of my trips to the ORIGINAL original Yankee Stadium was Roy White's picture all over the stadium promoting what we called "Roy White Knishes". Technically, they are the square crunchy Coney Island Knishes, but once you've been to the ORIGINAL original Yankee Stadium, it made you call them "Roy White Knishes" instead.
