Sunday Readers' Thread: The Dodgers or the Mets?

October 20, 2024

***

Tonight the Dodgers and the Mets play in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series.

A Yankees vs Mets World Series would be fun. A Subway Series!!!!!

A Yankees vs Dodgers World Series would be fun. Old Time World Series Rivals! New York vs California!

Without doing a statistical analysis, I'm not asking, which team the Yankees match-up better against, which team would you prefer the Yankees play in the World Series? Which opponent would be more fun to watch the Yankees battle against?

My gut feeling tells me that it will be a Yankees Dodgers world series.

With Giancarlo Stanton on a roll right now, he will do extremely well against either potential World Series opponent as he has hit very well in his career in both ballparks.

While with the Marlins, Stanton made a living on absolutely destroying Mets pitching at CitiField, even when the Mets had, arguably, one of the best starting pitching staffs in the game in the middle of the last decade (Rarely healthy at the same time, though).

At Dodger Stadium, where Stanton attended many games as a child and as a teen growing up, not only does he love hitting at that ballpark, but he also has the distinction of being one of only 5 players to hit a homerun ball…

Mets. I want another Subway Series in my lifetime. It took 38 years to get the first one, and I don't want to wait until I'm 75 for another one (assuming I even make it that far).

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
