If you were the General Manager of the Yankees, who would you plan to be the second baseman in 2024?

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.
Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."

My other comment aside, if it was me, I'd go in with the plan that it's Durbin's job to lose in Spring Training. And I'd spend all Spring like they did in 2023, where Volpe was the leadoff batter in every game he played, no matter who else was playing with him. IT doesn't mean that if a deal came across my way to get a 3B, I wouldn't pounce on it. But my feeling is, that the Yankees, outside of Soto, the only other place they're going to spend money is on a 1B. If they get a veteran 3B, Durbin will be fighting for a bench role, with him getting lots of Spring time in CF, and Rice…
To me, it's real simple who will play 2B. It will either be Jazz, because they acquired a 3B in a trade, or it's Durbin's job to lose in Spring Training with Peraza as the first backup. Cashman loves D, so either Durbin or Peraza in that vein, would be acceptable to him. The one thing I don't want is that Durbin has to fight with DJ LeMahieu to be the 4th starting infielder. Yes, I think the 1B will either be Rice (or Rumfield), or someone they acquire by trade or free agency. What scares me about DJ, is that besides my opinion that I think his feet have robbed him of his hitting skill (can't really plant one…
I think Caleb Durham should be the choice. If he dosent preform we can look for a replacement mid season. If not sign Addemes and move Jazz to second.
If there were non-Bregman options at 3rd I'd say Jazz, but I'm seeing the braintrust cheaping out at 2nd. After a spring competition I think Durbin will be it.
