Readers' Thread: Gleyber in Detroit

December 29, 2024

***

Gleyber Torres is no longer a Yankee. It seems the Yankees were ready to move on and never offered him any contract.

How do you think Gleyber Torres will do in Detroit?

He'll drive them crazy, especially since they're moving Keith to 1B. Oh, how will he take being replaced defensively regularly? Or what happens if Hinch doesn't like when Torres doesn't hustle and he gets pulled and sat down for a few days?

Having lived there for 18 years, can tell you Detroit is a baseball town.

But it ain’t New York.

I think he will do well away from the bright lights. He will have a good year with the bat, clear out some “head” issues and set himself up for a nice multi year contract next year.

At least I hope so. He seems like a good guy.

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
