The offense w/ Judge, Verdugo, Torres, Rizzo, and Stanton (until today) not really clicking

Volpe…the kid seems to be maturing faster than I expected. He looks calmed and in control at the plate.

Hopefully he can keep it up…it’s been fun to watch.

This is one of my joys as an old fan: Watching these new guys come up, establish themselves, show what they can do, and seeing the progress of their careers. Judge is the best recent example. I hope Volpe's the next.

The biggest surprise so far is Alex Verdugo being a lot less productive in the lineup than I expected. I think that will change as the Yankees start facing weaker pitching staffs like the Miami and Oakland pitching staffs they will soon see. But I expected more out of Verdugo, but using that baseball cliche again, it has only been a "sample size" so far. But if the present trend continues, it may be Verdugo who loses playing time when Jasson Dominguez is ready to return and not Giancarlo Stanton, as many have proposed.

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
