Quick Hit: Yanks Win 5-3

June 25, 2023

***

The starter went up against the first place team and allowed only one run over six innings leading his team to victory.

OH WAIT. (Sorry, that was me earlier this morning.)

Gerrit Cole gave up 9 hits and 3 runs over 4.2 innings, but the Yankees won anyway.

Who needs Aaron Judge?

Full recap in the morning coming from Ed Botti.

I'm surprised to find myself dissatisfied even after a 4-2 homestead and back-to-back series wins. But I reflect further and realize the Yankees are 4-6 in their last 10 (.400), and 9-12 in their last 21 (.429).

it's not as if anyone fails to note that there's a hole in it somewhere, prof.

Judge's absence leaves quite a void... and there were already holes where Rodon and Cortes should have been, sealant unapplied by Loaisiga and company.

BUT while we all were worried and setting pots out on the attic floor, moving the Davenport away from under the damp spot in the parlor ceiling, the rain that was forecast for the entire week-end didn't quite put the damper upon us.

fretful as a cat sensing an approaching downpour, but yet getting some sun, enjoy the staving off and the staying on, as long as we can.

it's after us, it may get us, but that deluge aint…

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
