Quick Hit: Yanks CRUSHED. Lose 15-2.

April 30, 2023

***

The Yankees are now 15-14.

The Yankees have lost their last three series.

Nifty Nestor's ERA for the year is 4.91. He's the only starter other than Cole who has done well for the Yanks.

It's ugly.

(And I don't see any hope that it's going to get better.)

Sorry you take away Cole and Yankee SP is fragile even after adding Severino and Rodon it's not gonna be enough to get team over the hump long term. Bullpen arms are gonna get overused because of SP and against the quality teams Yankees are in trouble. The bottom of the lineup isn't producing and you throw in all the injuries it is very difficult to be optimistic! I wanna be but the "eye test" is as ugly as it gets right now.

Disaster. I don't think they will improve. I fear Judge will need surgery, and be out for the season, or most of it. Stanton, who was looking pretty good, will miss at least another month, and go on the IL at least 2 more times. Bader will return and play 3 weeks before another IL stint. Rodon might be successful, if he ever gets back, and can stay uninjured. He'll probably have back spasms tying his shoes. Donaldson was, and is worthless and wont be missed. Hicks continues to be useless, and would be dropped by any other team. A bunch of no names hitting under .200 will continue to do so. They will be lucky to win 84 games.

The sad thing is that he actually was the hitting 'star' of the game. :(

I still believe! There's waaaay to much baseball left in the season to give up. For now, hold the line best they can. This past weekend stunk, but they probably were not as good as they looked earlier, not as bad as they look now. While some personnel moves deserve scrutiny and criticism, let's note they have been very unlucky too. While I wish the team was 20-14, I'll take 15-14. What makes the near future hard is that there's a lot of Tampa Bay on their upcoming schedule. Ugh. Ongoing: They gotta have Cole, Judge and Rodon healthy and playing well soon! While this feels tenuous, it's very possible. Judge hasn't even played as well as 2021 Judge. We have…

imagine adding Rodon, Severino, Judge, Stanton, Bader, Kahnle and Loaisiga to this team.

I imagine that the team would win a heckuva lot of games

85 to 90 might be the number given the dearth of productivity out of the bottom of the lineup and injuries. It's hard to be optimist ..... but I do love your optimism!

Waiting for the guys to get back from the IL is like waiting for the Ukrainian spring offensive. You hope it'll turn things around, but you fear everything is going to be exactly the same as it is now come the fall.
