So, let's recap...shall we?

  • San Francisco Giants - Yanks took 2 of 3

  • Philadelphia Phillies - Yanks took 2 of 3

  • Baltimore Orioles - Yanks took 2 of 3

  • Cleveland Guardians - Yanks took 2 of 3

  • Minnesota Twins - Yankees and Twins split the four games

  • Los Angeles Angels - Yanks took 2 of 3

The Yankees are 11-7 on the season.

The Yankees won today... without hitting any home runs.

Nifty Nestor gave up four hits (three runs) in six innings. The bullpen closed it out.

A friend wrote around 1pm with an extra ticket, so we went to the game, which was great. IKF made two outstanding plays in CF, and had a bases-loaded, 2-out, 2-RBI hit to put the game out of reach. Nestor didn't give up his first hit until the 5th, when he had his only hiccup (a leadoff walk in the 6th also scored courtesy of a Marinaccio double to the No. 8 hitter). Ohtani (0-for-3, BB) was again neutralized. There was still a disturbing caesura of the offense (one hit from 2nd through 6th), But overall it was a very satisfying win -- and a beautiful day at the ballpark.

What was particularly satisfying were the two, big, two-out, bases loaded hits, Trevino's bases-clearing double in the first and IKF's two-run single in the 7th. Two bottom-of-the-order guys coming up BIG. Everyone in the lineup drew at least one walk, 12 total, so the patience was great, too.

Judge has put to rest claims that the Yankees did not enter this season with a quality CFer to back up Bader.

and, in an almost comedic manner, IKF is supplying evidence that the Yankees have a backup to the back up CFer,

OK. we agree that Judge is an excellent RFer for Yankee Stadium and that he's proven to be a quality CFer.

still to be determined is whether Judge can play well in LF.

as for being a player ( in the outfield) short...... that's a real possibility, but

1) Cabrera has looked pretty good

&

2) position players are easier and less expensive to pick up DURING the season rather than in the off-season

especially when the team has only a short-term need and a star outfielder in the minors and ready by next season.
