one thing Phil forgot in his pregame blurb, the Yankees are on the road now. they are quite easily the best road team in MLB, of course I should not have said that out loud
some people write a great deal of stuff about the Yankee analytics department and little of the writing is laudatory
but it was analytics guys who did the math
and figured out that the team that scores first and never relinquishes that early lead
puts a great deal of pressure on the opposing team
and more than that
the analysts concluded that even beyond stressing the other team,
maintaining the lead through the end of nine innings greatly reducing the probability of having to play more than nine
Another bad night for Cashman, and by extension Boone - Cole threw the ball pretty darn good to Austin Wells. Oops, that takes that excuse to put Trevino in there. Now let's see if that arm stiffens up on Wells overnight, so I wouldn't be shocked if I saw Trevino in at catcher tomorrow night.
Was E.J. right on the BB podcast about Rizzo? Could be.
Just like last year, Torres settled in very nicely right behind Judge, maybe this year his home is in the leadoff spot. Good for him, he needs everything to get his next contract - it just won't be here IMO.
