Quick Hit: Where Was Waldo?

Oswaldo Cabrera had a big 2-run home run in this 3-2 win in Cleveland. He should be out there every day. Game 2, next!

Boone just said Berti is going to the IL with an abductor pull, and Maciejewski is being DFA'd with Marinaccio being called up. I dunno -- Maciejewski looked good in his one inning and had a 2.96 ERA in 2023 with three teams (A+, AA and AAA). Lefties like that don't grow on trees. I hope they don't lose him out of the organization.

Maciejewski deserves more of a chance with the Yankees.

Kevin Smith was called up to fill Berti's roster spot as a utility infielder. I was hoping they would instead call up Rougned Odor. Odor is not any better than Smith at this point in Odor's career, but at least he brings a lot of swagger and personality to the ballclub, and will blend in nicely with Alex Verdugo and Marcus Stroman, as Odor has a similar personality and swagger to those other two guys. But he is an "easy out" these days, but then again, so is Kevin Smith.

the team has already lost 3 games and appear unlikely to reach 150 regular season victories

After tonight, 130 is still within reach.

Hey, how about Estevan Florial and his .485 OPS? Finally, a team is giving him the chance to play (over half the games) and allowing him to show what he can really do!

I wanted Florial to get more of a chance with the Yankees. However, his biggest issue was how frequently he strikes out.

It's a long season.

And things are looking great for this team so far, but the last few games have seen some poor defense, some poor clutch hitting, a lot of double plays, and such.

The good news is that the Yankees are winning games that it seems they would have found a way to lose last year. That's a great sign.

it's nearly reasonable to regard an 18% enhancement to expected success as designated residue.
