The Yankees saved 3 of their 6 hits, and all 3 of their runs for the ninth...only to lose 4-3 anyway. Darn. Good try at the end there, Volpe.

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.
Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."

What Gomez has done in his first 2 outings, is exactly what I thought he was going to do last year. Eat up 2-3 innings to save other pitchers or be a middle innings guy. With Starters no longer going 7-8 innings a start, guys like this, while not glamorous are a necessity in every bullpen. In fact, if teams are going to insist on an eight man bullpen, I can't see why there shouldn't be 2 of these guys in every pen. Stop trying to have 8 one inning guys.
Well, we were wondering whether the opening series was about the Yankee bats or the Brewer pitching. Now we know that, unfortunately for both teams, it was the latter.
