Quick Hit: Too Little, Too Late

Cole has not yet come back, and the Yankees bats didn't get around to doing much until it was all but over...

Welcome to the cesspool, me boyos. This is the true Yankee level of performance, a day late and an dollar short on offense, and an earned-run-per-inning ex-Cy Young Ace. Get used to it: This is what the rest of 2024 is going to look like with these losers.

It's not "one bad game." It's game after game after game of stinking. It's 3-8 now, a .273 winning percentage, which is actually an over-performance of the pythagorean expectation of .249. At least before it was losing to good teams like the Dodgers and Orioles. Now it's losing to a sub-.500 Mets team.

The bullpen has been exposed by the starters not going 6 or 7 every game. The positional roster/bench has been killed by both total ineffectiveness (Torres), to injuries, both here and in AAA. Does Jones start tonight if either Pereira or Dominguez are available? Nyet. Does Torres keep playing every game if either Durbin or Berti were healthy? No way. I blame the medical staff when it comes to LeMahieu. I don't believe he is really healthy enough to play. There is a difference between being physically healthy and being healthy enough to play your professional sport.

Funniest thing I saw was the breakdown of Rice against righties and lefties. He had, what, all of 18 ABs?

But I did…

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
