Cole was never as good as he was made out to be. He's being paid 4 times more than he's worth. Useless without his sticky stuff. I would have traded him.

On July 2, the Yankees swept the Cleveland Guardians in a double header, ending the day 58-21, a .734 winning percentage, which rounds to 119 wins for the season.


Since then -- July 3 through August 3 -- they are 12-14, a .461 winning percentage, which rounds to 75 wins for the season. This is the Yankees right now. A less-than-mediocre team. They are better than the Rangers, but not as good as the White Sox. This team will get bounced out of the playoffs in an eyeblink. Even if Montas is an upgrade over Montgomery, it won't prevent that fate. The subtraction of Gallo helps, and the collection of relief arms to deal with all the injuries helps. Beni…

One caveat; this is not the same team that has had the same end result for five years...slightly less than half of the team has turned over since the beginning of last season.
