Quick Hit: The Reds Scare

The Yankees lose another one to the Reds, 3-2 tonight. At least the fireworks are fun.

With it being on Prime, I didn't have to watch it. But I did watch 2023 UDFA LHP Ben Shields make his AA debut tonight, and throw 5.1 IP of shutout ball. Still not sure if Shields is a Starter or reliever long term, but it's nice to have a 2nd lefty pitcher already in AA. And since the Yankees turned 2018 #1 pick, C Anthony Seigler into a 2B, it's like he's a different player. Too bad that only happened less than a year ago.


But way too many of these prospects are either hurt or very underperforming. With the industry people thinking that the Yankees have a Top 5-7 farm system, what does that really say about th…

So glad Wife and I went to a Powell & Pressburger movie at Film Forum tonight, followed by dinner in SoHo. I knew tonight would likely go badly vs. the left-hander. Never thought it would be Judge who choked with the tying run on third, go-ahead on first, with one out. But that's how it is with the "We play today, we lose today" Yankees. Somebody will always step down to the occasion.
