Clarke Schmidt has earned his permanent spot in the rotation. On many other pitching staffs in the majors, he would be their ace. I recently saw a video on the New York Yankees facebook page of Clarke Schmidt mic'd up in the dugout for the entire game against the Detroit Tigers last weekend. It changed my whole opinion of him. When he is pitching, he is obviously all business and very serious. But in the dugout, I learned from hearing him being mic'd up that he is a very rowdy person, very rah-rah during a game. So I'm watching the replay on YES (had dinner tonight with friends from grade and high school, plus the spouse of one and my own lovely bride, so I didn't get to see the game live), and even knowing Holmes got out of it, he's setting my stomach churning. That second strikeout was on a horrendously bad call. Who knows how this game would have turned out if he'd gone (appropriately) 3-2 instead of getting the out. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life, but I'm thinking I need a pack to get through a Holmes inning (if only because when I throw up, the cause will at least be ambiguous).

The best thing to do if you miss a telecast is go to Gameday on MLB.com, and watch the Gameday "Condensed Game" video. It allows you to see the whole game in about 8 minutes, complete with the local broadcasters calling the result of the last pitch of each at-bat (hit, homer, out, GIDP, excellent defensive play, etc).
