Quick Hit: It Ain't The A's Any Longer

by Paul Semendinger

May 11, 2023

***

I didn't see the game as I was at a wonderful Roy White event in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.

As I drove home, John Sterling delivered the bad news, "Rays 8, Yankees 2."

Dorothy found out that she wasn't in Kansas any longer. Then she eventually returned to black and white.

The Yankees enjoyed the technicolor brilliance of looking amazing as they played a team that is comprised of players who might belong better in the minor leagues. The A's made the Yankees seem like something they're not.

It seems like tonight the Yankees were snapped back to reality. Oops there goes gravity... (You get it.)

The brilliance of Oz fades into the background as the Rays won sending the Yankees into the phase where they must begin to wonder if they belong with the better teams in the league.

Sure, it was one game, but against the Rays (so far) in 2023, the Yankees are 1-3.

We'll have a full recap in the morning...

Great insight depicting reality. If the Yanks have hope its in how well they navigate what is. Thank you.

The Least Among Them.png

"This charming and meticulously researched book will remind you of baseball’s power to change and enrich lives far beyond the diamond."

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
