Well, the Yanks made it close, but they lost again.

The weather was nice. So that can't be an excuse.

There always seems to be an excuse... what will it be today?

Since beginning the season 3-0, the Yankees have gone 5-7. Which part of the Yankees' season is more telling to the team they are... the 3-0 start (3 games) or the 5-7 streak (12 games)?

I do not think it either silly or foolish to note that Ohtani's contractual terms are unusual

and do not think it either silly or foolish to note that Ohtani's unusual contract left the organization in an unusually advantageous position from which to operate.

deferring almost all of Ohtani's salary, something that the Dodgers said was Ohtani's idea,

https://www.newsweek.com/sports/mlb/shohei-ohtani-opens-contract-deferrals-reveals-promise-dodgers-made-him-1996333

is more the mark of a player going all-in than that of a team.

the team was given a highly unusual opportunity and, recognizing the great value on offer, ran with it. it was clearly a coup and the Dodgers are to be commended.

having the ability to understand that you got lucky is even better than being unusually determined to…

what excuse is there for flying the distress insignia when the team record is above water?

And the Yankees haven't been on the winning end of the games AFTER the 162 games since 2009.

So, on this you agree with me. It's been far too long for the team since they last won those series after 162.

If the Yankees are "all-in" and they have not been able to build a team that has won it all in that time, then, by definition, the leadership is doing a bad job building that team.

Glad to see you are finally understanding after so many years of arguing.

I would say there is no excuse today or any day really. speaking of today specifically, the biggest problem was the fragility of Carlos Rodon. he often pitches well. he has the ability to get outs. can anyone, I cannot, think of a pitcher who can look so good and so bad in the same outing?

I can think of plenty of pitchers who can be good in some outings and bad in others, that might describe almost all pitchers actually, and then there are some who can almost go back and forth in every outing

Rodon is different in the fact that he can look good to great in most of an outing, but also have one terrible inning…

This team is pretty awful. They’re going nowhere fast.

If this were a one-off thing, sure. But this is not the first time this circus has come to town. It is the same garbage over and over and over. For months now. One negative declamation after another, NOT ONE supported by facts, and indeed, most demonstrably false.

When you and I are wrong about something, we own up to it. It is, in fact, one of the things I most respect about you, Paul. When I say something intemperate or misguided, I apologize for it.

In my 30+ years of practicing law, I have dealt with many people who conduct themselves in bad faith, including by making unsupported factual and legal assertions. I know it when I see it…
