It's all about pitching certainly going into playoffs and right now Yankees have a problem will it remain so for rest of regular season? It's too early to go into "cruise control."

Seems like Boone lifted the starter when he had only thrown about 85 pitches. Boy, it would be nice to have another starting pitcher...

and the manager made the determination that pushing the starter

was not vital.


lifting Cortes was a move consistent with prioritizing having the players ready for the end of the season over attempting to go full-speed now.


they have already demonstrated their capacity and the team is demonstrating the wisdom of allowing the players to throttle back a bit for now.
