Quick Hit: BOOM BOOM YEAH!

Updated: Jun 2

June 2, 2024

***

Sometimes you lose games you should win.

and sometimes you win games you probably should have lost.

THE YANKEES WON IN GRAND FASHION TODAY! OH MY!

Down 5-3 heading into the 9th inning..

  • Gleyber Torres singled

  • Jose Trevino beat out a would-be double play grounder

  • Anthony Volpe tripled (that was the first Boom)

  • Juan Soto hit a magestic homer (the second Boom)

  • Aaron Judge Walked

  • Giancarlo Stanton hit a booming double...

And that, for the most part, was that.

The Yankees went 7-2 on the road trip. Amazing.

This team has been a blast. Juan Soto has been everything I hoped he'd be as a Yankee - and then some. And then some more. And a little more after that.

That homer he hit in the 9th was one of the most enjoyable I've seen in all my years as a Yankees fan.

A victory to make all fans smile.

BOOM BOOM YEAH!

do minor league teams exist for the purpose of winning their games

or for purpose of training players?

if both, is one purpose to be prioritized?

Before Giants manager Bob Melvin left the Padres to take the job in San Francisco, there was a report that Melvin wanted the Padres to trade Soto away. This makes Soto's 2 homers against Melvin's new team that much sweeter. Especially for Soto. Probably PART of why he flipped his bat so high after his second homer.

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS FANS ARE STILL MAD AT AARON JUDGE FOR "SPURNING" THEM AND INSTEAD RE-SIGNING WITH THE YANKEES!

Local San Francisco radio personality, Matthew Steinmetz, didn’t mince words, deriding Judge’s decision by saying, “He’s gutless. He didn’t want the pressure of living up to Barry Bonds’ legacy!”

MY ANSWER TO THAT: That's because Aaron Judge created his OWN great legacy in Yankee Stadium in New York!

Fans in New York do not accept mediocrity. Fans in Philadelphia are just jerks, by and large.
