Quick Hit: Boo Birds Sing Tex 4, NY 2

by Paul Semendinger

June 23, 2023

***

The Rangers defeated the Yankees in 10 innings.

Michael King gave up a 2-run homer to start the 10th.

Will Smith closed it out for Texas.

OR

King stopped being royalty.

The Fresh Prince was the king.

(Something like that.)

***

Over their last 15 games, the Yankees are 5-10.

The YES announcers wondered why the fans are booing.

Hal Steinbrenner wonders why fans are so upset.

Can't they see what is abundantly obvious?

Over their last 162 games, the once mighty Yankees are 84-78. (But they're keeping the last Wild Card spot in sight. Man, is that exciting!)

Full recap in the morning from Tim Kabel.

The YES announcers shill for the team because they want to keep their jobs. Very simple.

I should have watched the Reds-Braves game (cycle by De La Cruz) or Pirates-Marlins (Arraez goes 3 for 4 to raise his BA to .402). The Yankees right now are bad and worse, boring.

The Least Among Them.png

"This charming and meticulously researched book will remind you of baseball’s power to change and enrich lives far beyond the diamond."

—Jonathan Eig, New York Times best-selling author of Luckiest Man, Opening Day, and Ali: A Life

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
