Quick Hit: Back to .500

by Paul Semendinger

***

As my book talk in Hillsdale was ending, one of the Yankees fans in the room said, "They're down already. Rodon is a bust."

Detroit (not paper tigers tonight) scored twice in the first inning, twice in the third inning, and four time in the fourth inning. And they weren't done...

Carlos Rodon threw 73 pitches in only 3.2 innings allowing seven earned runs. Not good. His ERA for the season is 6.60 which is only good if you listen to WFAN on AM radio.

The Tigers won 10-3.

Of note, Gleyber Torres blasted his 25th homer run of the season.

Full recap coming in the morning.

Yankees vs. Detroit, season: 5-2.

Yankees vs. Houston, season: 5-2.

That's baseball, Suzyn.

Look, ugly game, Rodon looks like a Really Bad Investment so far. But I'll take 8-2 every 10 games all year long.

Well, Krook looked like he wasn't scared. Volpe, Peraza, & Peraza all got hits. Dominguez got his first walk. Ive seen him get called out in the minors worse than tonight. Worst part is, the umps, no matter how bad thsy are cant lose their job, be put in the replay booth an extra turn, or demoted back to the minors. Disgusting

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
