Quick Hit: 82-80.

They lost today 5-2, but still secured a winning record for the season. The question is if a winning record is something to be celebrated.

not to be celebrated

but to be understood.

it's far short of what is desired and what has come to be expected

but it also demonsrartes that all the "The Yankees are the worst team with the worst management" stuff is every bit as ridiculous as the idea that the 2023 team was championship material.

so much went wrong

so much was missing

and they were what their record said they were---- mediocre

If you think Dominguez was ready for the majors at the beginning of the season you're out of your mind. He couldn't even crack .100 at AA! The Yankees stink at player development and the current crop of rookies with the exception of Dominguez and Wells does not create much confidence that they have improved in that area. "some guys on this blog continue to claim that the Yankees under Hal refuse to sign any "

There you go again with your straw man arguments. NO ONE IS SAYING THAT!!!! What people are saying, and quite correctly, is that the Yankees have passed on a number of free agents who could have really helped them contend for championships and its blatantly obvious that…

Not much to unpack today. King had a bad start, but after 7 good ones, you can live with a bad one. Brito showed again why he should slide into the middle reliever role, with chances what he could do in the later innings when the opportunities come up. Wells having 3 hits today, was good, and he continues to show he is better defensively than we were all told. Pereira is going to need a solid Spring Training if there still is an OF spot up for grabs. I think Florial is the clear leader to be the Dominguez placeholder. More convinced than ever that Vasquez will be traded, and in the right deal, Schmidt will go too, with…

Im not asking Florial to be a starting OF for the next 5 years, I'm just looking at him as my stopgap until Dominguez is ready. I think he is as good as anyone we could get on the free agent market. Plus, with no real money tied to him, if someone like Lockridge or Dunham, is steady at AAA, I'm not against making a switch, say May 15. And I'm not convinced Hal will not anything more than a veteran looking for a prove it one year deal (money amount irrelevant) for LF next year. With all these kids at AA & AAA - catchers, infielders, outfielders, pitchers- the mandate is use them for us or trade them. N…

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
