ICING ON THE CAKE: Baltimore lost to Seattle. Boston lost to St Louis. Toronto lost to Tampa Bay. So the Yankees gained a game on all three.

what was Cashmans much disliked offseason comment? something about the roster not being that bad??

well? another recent thread someone commented about Trevino coming back from last years injuries and hitting SOOOOO well

Rodon also endured a VERY tough first NYY season with multiple injury challenges

both of them deserve a lot of credit for persevering a difficult scenario! putting in the necessary work!! and coming back very strong

but in my mind there is not a player anywhere in the MLB who deserves more respect and credit than Giancarlo Stanton!!

YES i realize that he is paid a lot. and it does and will cause some salary challenges for the Yankees as long as they insist on making the…

I couldn't agree more. Just like with Soto and Judge, I am delighted that the Yankee pitchers will never have to face Giancarlo Stanton. That, as long as he is on the team, his dangerous bat will never hurt the Yankees, and believe me, it would if he were on another team playing against the Yankees. Notice how Stanton has stayed healthy all year, SO FAR? This is no accident, no coincidence. This is a direct result of his new physique, not just losing weight, but also, working out by doing baseball flexibility exercises, and NOT working out like a "bodybuilder" and building extra muscle mass and bulk. That is EXACTLY the reason why, SO FAR, he has been he…

Remember over the winter when many fans were bemoaning the fact that the Yankees didn't succeed in signing Yamamoto? Or Snell? Or Montgomery? And they did not trade for Cease or Burnes? As it turns out, the Yankees DID add someone to the rotation. Someone they ALREADY HAD in their organization. Luis Gil! I am very happy with that addition to the rotation and it did not cost the Yankees any prospect collateral (He was a STEAL several years ago in a trade of two minor league players, Jake Cave to Minnesota for Luis Gil). And it didn't cost the Yankees a humungous salary or multi-year commitment either! More than 1/4 of the way into the season, he is…

I was one of the crazy people that believed Gil should be in the bullpen…he might end up there this year because of an innings limit…but he’s proven he belongs in the rotation

I was, too! I envisioned Gil as a 9th inning stopper/closer with Clay Holmes moving to a 7th & 8th inning setup role. But Gil has been TOO GOOD as a starter. It would weaken the rotation to take Gil out of it, even with the return of Gerrit Cole. The starting rotation cannot afford to lose a stalwart like Luis Gil. Now, it is better to find someone else who can fill the high leverage relief role, with Gil continuing his dominance as an integral starting pitcher on the staff.
