we've reached the time of the season where every win is of import

and most of all

a win lasts but briefly

and a team is only as good as their next win

I love the way they left Tommy Kahne in the 10th inning to get that crucial first out. It puts less pressure for Holmes to get that final 2 outs. Kudos on that heads-up move.

Half watching the post game show on YES, but sorry Swish, most Yankees fans do not want Torres back for a whole slew of different reasons. Good for him to finish this way, so some will pay him.

Since the change to the Manfred Man innings, not surprisingly, there is now a tremendous increase in Walk Off wins all around the league. It has made the previously uncommon quite common.

That makes no sense, Jeff. Either it's a tie score after nine (extra-inning game) or it's not. Whether there's a guy on second in the extras or not, it's still one extra-inning game. Any time the home team wins in extra innings, by definition, it's a walk-off. Nothing has changed in that respect (and home teams always have the advantage in extra-inning games, whether there's a ghost runner or not, though see fuster's link for a different take -- if anything, there are fewer extra-inning walkoffs now).
