One of my favorite Yankees related presents was when my late mother, Jan, surprised me when I was in my sophomore year at Cornell University. I was home for Christmas and she had wrapped up a retro Lou Gherig baseball jersey. Gherig was always my favorite all-time baseball player and I really enjoyed this gift. I proudly wore it all over campus and it started a hobby of mine where I began to collect vintage baseball jerseys from all teams, not just the Yankees.

With each trip in later years to the Baseball Hall of Fame, my collection grew as I studied various players who I became interested in.
