What to do about Clay Holmes? Another blown save.

I would keep him until the end of the season, and offer him a Qualifying Offer, one he CAN refuse, so at least the Yankees can get a Draft Pick in return for his departure.

Champagne for being one of 12 playoff teams? That's 40% of all teams combined. Kind of overdone. I think the celebrations ought to be reserved for winning the division, winning the league playoffs or winning the WS. If they must have these celebrations for these lesser milestones make it beer until the league championship or the WS.

I totally agree. Last night's clinch just meant that they are guaranteed at least the THIRD Wild Card spot, which is certainly no honor, and not worth celebrating. Winning a round of the post season and advancing to the next round, THAT is worth celebrating. Winning the World Series, let the champaign flow. MAYBE clinching the division and earning the bye. At least in all of those other scenarios, the Yankees won't have to play a day game the next day after the late night wild celebration, or if they do have to, after they clinch the division and also clinch home field advantage, at least the game the next day would be meaningless, which is not the case …

Last night - Rizzo 2 RBI. Dominguez by way of his BB/SB and being the Ghost runner, scored twice. No Judge, no Soto, no Jazz, no Wells. two thumbs up!

The Starters are still pitching for their spot in the postseason rotation, so Schmidt will come out today focused. If they play Wells, he's still playing to be the #1 catcher. Dominguez showed in the 2nd inning last night just what his speed can do. Verdugo is playing to show he deserves starts in the OF. I forget what site I saw this on, but Volpe has has a very roller coaster season with the bat - 35 games up, 17 down, 19 up, 11 down, etc. you get the idea. He needs to go back to the bench for a few days, just work on his swing, because we all can see even though the Yankees change…

I hope they can still play tomorrow and focus on tomorrow's game after all this heavy celebrating tonight. Hope they are not too hung over.

NO Yankee would make a mistake as "stupid" as the one that the Mariners Julio Rodriguez made last night.

Yes, I was joking, but seriously, I would have preferred they saved their celebration for bigger accomplishments. All last night's "clinching" meant was that they clinched getting the THIRD Wild Card spot, which is a bare minimum accomplishment and not worth a celebration. Winning the division, maybe, but more of an accomplishment would be if they win the right to advance to the next level of the post season, after playing at least one level of it.
