More of the Same (Boone Given Contract Extension)

The Yankees have offered their fans three more seasons of Aaron Boone's leadership.

Today, the team announced that Boone will get extensions for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

Aaron Boone already holds the record, by miles, for the most games managed without ever winning a World Series. During his tenure, the Yankes have developed a reputation of being fundamentally poor and a team that lacks hustle. Boone has never been considered a great strategist. In addition, his press conferences are also filled with words without much substance.

It seems that Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner are pleased with all of this as he'll be guiding the team at least until the end of 2027.

On the MLB Network recently, Brian Kenney didn't name Boone as even a Top 10 Manager:

(I was going through Twitter to add tweets, but it became cumbersome, so I stopped. That may come later...)

getting spring training kicked off with multiple players already injured is not what you were hoping for?

BC readily admits that the team played bad defense last year? how is it exactly that he thinks other teams play good defense? other teams are just lucky?

we play bad defense but we are going to give an extension to the guy who is in charge of both game strategy and teaching the fundamentals of the game. PERFECT

Hal checks the spreadsheet, Cashman keeps his puppet in place .... it's all good on the surface but the nuts and bolts of everyday MLB for the Yankee fans leaves a lot to be desired 😫!!!!!

You said it nicer than I would, but yeah! until either Cashman goes or Hal forces a seismic shift in philosophy and methods, it really doesn't matter. Anyone but me could be the Yankee manager, and we'd get the essentially the same thing.

This organization is a joke. Top to bottom. Horrible ownership, horrible front office, horrible management, horrible coaching, horrendous lineup. 2025, 2026…etc, should be fun. 🤮

and, if, as currently expected, the team managed by Boone again wins the AL East and the American League championship

again goes to the Series

but plays more creditably

will we all still be harping on Boone's absence of tactical acuity?

Boone appears to be quite mediocre

as did Joe Torre

right up until the team he was given a team of brilliant players.

the real question is whether Boone will be supplied with one or two additional brilliant guys

Your take on his defense has been proven incorrect by almost every single person who comments and writes here. It's a tired trope, one you bring up again and again and it's wrong. He's not a great fielder. okay. It has nothing to do with lack of effort or anything like that.
