When players get hot for a minute, people are ready to say, "He's back." Then the mocking tones come too. "All you foolish people who were concerned..."

Judge is 1 for 7 since they left Milwaukee. Sure, a very small sample size. But weren't two weekend games also a very small sample size?

The Yankees are also 7-9 over their last 16. That great start was long ago...

There is one major difference between those games in Milwaukee and the two most recent games in Baltimore. In Milwaukee, Judge had a red hot Alex Verdugo batting behind him. In Baltimore, he has had Giancarlo Stanton, who is going through one of his slumps now until his next breakout.

So why didn't Judge call off Volpe?

Hummmmmmm...

It's easy to say, "That Soto..." But when it's Judge is it ok?

the two plays were in no way analogous

a shortstop is not a first baseman

and a shortstop already under the ball and facing the ball is far, far different from a guy still going back and trying for an over-the-shoulder catch

BIG PLUS TODAY: Austin Wells seems to be coming out of his funk. Once he gets going, he can become a force in the lineup against right-handed pitching.

Soto knows this ballpark. When he was with Washington, they played "home and home" series with Baltimore every year, just like the Mets and Yankees do, so he is accustomed to hitting well in this ballpark. 8th homer of the year.

Many Yankee fans said the Yankees should trade for Mike Trout, and I said "Nope. He gets hurt too much, he would become another Stanton". Well, today, Trout has a torn meniscus and will require knee surgery, so after his blistering start, true to form, out indefinitely with an injury.

Speaking of the Angels, I saw that they, too, just like the Yankees, have given up on Aaron Hicks. DFAed him the other day.

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.
