The off-season gives us the time and space to showcase some great content that we missed or didn't have time to post during the games.
This from Foolish Baseball:
"Instant replay review of home runs began in 2008, with massive replay expansion coming to MLB in 2014. Since then, the league has seen countless calls on the field challenged and overturned. While MLB instant replay review was once scoffed at for removing the human element, it has become part of the game.
Bill Duplissea of the Kansas City Royals is the best replay review coordinator in MLB, meaning the Royals replay challenges are overturned at the highest rate. From the David Wright overturned steal in the Royals 2015 World Series Game 1 win to the most trivial of regular season MLB challenges and MLB overturned calls, Duplissea is the man in control.
So come one and come all! Watch this tribute to a man they call Duper, an unsung hero who provides value to his team. While fans viewing the game may have seen managers like Ned Yost, Mike Matheny, and Matt Quatraro issue the challenges, the man deciding them lives in the replay room."
My question is: How has the MLBPA allowed the contract between MLB and the Umpires stand? They need to at least file a grievance with the NLRB. I would've never agreed to the 2016 nor the 2021 CBA without demanding that the umpires can lose their jobs for how they perform. And lets be honest too about the umpires, outside of MLB or the AFL, the umpires do not work in 4 man crews.
