dont know where else to put it

at the deadline when everyone was talking about Paredes, I said there was ONE PLACE i did not want to see him go

Paredes is a very imperfect player. he was not all that good for the Cubs. he is a one trick pony, BUT his one trick is hitting the ball in the air to LF

well, um, anyone noticed the LF setup in Houston? I believe Paredes will be a problem playing his home games in Houston

just saw the stat, he would have had 7 more HR playing home games in Houston last year

I wonder why the Yankees have no interest in Alec Bohm from the Phillies who can play 3B and 1B. There was a lot of trade talk earlier in ther week about him. Is it because we would have to give up too much?

Replying to

it might be because he's not all that great on offense

and is all pretty bad on defense

spend all money on pitching and you probably shouldn't be in the market for infielders who play poor defense

unless they're extraordinarily valuable as hitters

While I don't think Cortes was enough to get Williams, I am not happy Durbin was included. I think this trade (and Tucker off to Chicago) means the Yankees are about to make a trade to get Bellinger and either sign Bregman or trade for Arenado. Meh, on Bellinger -- gags on the other moves.

the Yankees retained a fair number of pitching prospects even after trading away a big bunch of them

and then in the last draft, the team went heavily for even more pitchers.

and all these pitching prospects are in addition to a rotation that features Cole, Fried and Rodon, three guys signed for a half-dozen years

and Gil and Schmidt, two young guys under control for 4 and 3 seasons.

I wrote all this in support of the idea that the Yankees are likely to continue to develop more pitchers than they'll be able to keep and will continue to trade surplus pitchers.

they're gonna be in the market for hitters

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.
