"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.
Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."

I live in Indiana… John and Suzyn were my life line to the Yankees via Sirius XM… I will miss him!
I'm used to him, and will miss him>
A very sad day.
I love Sterling. I will miss him greatly.

'Course I'm respectable. I'm old. Politicians, public buildings, and whores all get respectable if they last long enough.
They said "effective immediately", but technically, he is actually retiring THIS COMING Saturday, as part of a ceremony in his honor on Saturday at Yankee Stadium before the game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He will be missed. His unique home run calls which even involves him singing (what other sports broadcaster SINGS as part of their play-by-play!) will not be duplicated by anyone. I wonder if there is a health issue we're not aware of? It is unusual for a broadcaster to retire midseason, and not "just before" it, or "just after" it.
