Jasson Dominguez was pulled moments ahead of the game today. Breaking news is that he has a torn right UCL. Surgery possible.

Quick Thoughts:
Just a day after Luis Severino was placed on the 15-Day IL with a left upper body injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the 2023 season (and will likely end his Yankees career as he is a free agent this offseason), the Yankees are getting hit hard with more injury news.
Jasson Dominguez was pulled just a short time ahead of the final game in the Yankees-Brewers weekend series with what was being called some "right elbow soreness". Now, just over an hour after the time ended we're learning from manager Aaron Boone that Domiguez has torn his right UCL.
Dominguez is the 4th Yankees position player in the last few years to have this injury, following the likes of Gleyber Torres (while he was in the minors), Didi Gregorius, and Aaron Hicks.
This same injury also happened recently to Bryce Harper and Shohei Ohtani (though for Ohtani it was likely due to his pitching). The hope is that if Tommy John surgery is necessary that Dominguez will be able to rehab quickly- as the UCL is not extremely necessary to hit- though, with the Yankees having players like Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge (along with other aging guys like Anthony Rizzo and DJ LeMahieu) it will be hard for them to keep Dominguez to a DH-only role in that scenario in the MLB.
Ultimately, my quick feelings are that this is going to be the last of Dominguez we see in the major leagues even through most of next season. The Yankees are not built well enough to hold around another DH-only type. This will mean Dominiguez will have to spend the year rehabbing his elbow to be able to get back into the field while hitting in Triple-A. (If the Yankees even decide to allow him to hit during his recovery.)
What terrible news.
The Yankees are back to having 2 open 0F spots for 2024. Now, does Hal force Cashman to put Florial on the roster and in the lineup for the rest of the season? 0r do they put Pereira over in CF? One more out of the box thought: What if they stick Cabrera at 3B, and throw Peraza out in CF? We know Cabrera can handle LF defensively (even though i like him in RF much better). But that way, they alleviate the infield roster crunch that's coming in 2024 without getting rid of anyone?
Sounds like they were so anxious to get him into the lineup to provide some good news that they ignored a clear warning sign of injury. He should have been sent for an MRI as soon as he reported soreness.
On the game thread, I predicted March 10 for the TJS announcement. Seems I'm almost 6 months late, but if this is what he needs, better now than then. I hope this doesn't permanently wreck his arm. He has the speed and range for center; it would be a shame if he were relegated to left because he's down to Four Tools.
Wow. Unbelievable news
WAIT WAIT WAIT - Just saw this from the NY POST:
"Aaron Boone said Dominguez reported soreness in the elbow as far back as his first series in Houston, but it didn’t impact him at the plate until he was taking batting practice Sunday. "
WHAT? He didn't feel right and they played him anyway???????!!!!!!!!!
Haven't we seen enough of this?
Again, how do these people keep their jobs?
