The Yankees won?
Quick Stats -
Winning Pitcher - Michael King
Losing Pitcher - Alexis Diaz
Home Runs (Yankees) - Giancarlo Stanton
Home Runs (Reds) - Kyle Farmer, Mike Moustakas, Stuart Fairchild
Game Notes -
Luis Severino left the game after allowing back-to-back-to-back home runs to the Cincinnati Reds in the 2nd inning with right shoulder tightness. He will be getting an MRI today.
JP Sears has been one of the Yankees secret weapons this year. He came in to replace Severino and pitched a very good 3.2 innings of work (2 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K). And, after the game he was optioned back down to Triple-A.
The rest of the bullpen (Albert Abreu, Wandy Peralta, Aroldis Chapman, Clay Holmes, Michael King) were good- hey, they didn't allow another run- though we did see some trouble again for Clay Holmes as he allowed another 2 runners on in the 9th.
Obviously the injury to Severino threw a wrench in the Yankees plans, but using King and Holmes in back-to-back days is not great. Let's hope on a good long start and some great offense tonight to save the bullpen.
Speaking of offense, the Yankees came up big in the 3rd inning last night while scoring 5 runs. It was a great all-around inning as they utilized the walk, got a couple of hits, and took advantage of an error from the Cincinnati Reds. Shoutout to IKF for his 3-run double during that run.
And, let's not forget to mention the Giancarlo Stanton 8th inning home run. As much as Stanton can frustrate a fan, he does seem to come up in the clutch (and on National Television) often.
In Tuesday's game the Yankees announcers mentioned that the Cincinnati Reds have not been keen to use Alexis Diaz in back-to-back games and he tends to have a wild tendency. That was very much showcased last night as back-to-back wild pitches allowed DJ LeMahieu (the ghost runner in the 10th inning) to get from second to third and then from third to scoring the game winning run!
How cool is it that yesterday was also DJ LeMahieu's birthday and he scored the winning run? That must be a feeling like few others. Awesome.
Player(s) of the Game - The combined bullpen effort (8 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 10 K)
Notable Performances - Giancarlo Stanton (HR), IKF (2 H, 3 RBI), DJ LeMahieu (2 H, Winning Run)
Better to Forget - The Back-to-Back-to-Back home runs and Aaron Judge (0-4, 3 K)
Next Up - Tonight is the final game from this 3-game series with the Cincinnati Reds. The game will be on at 7:05 PM as Luis Castillo will try to an impress a team on his trading radar for the Cincinnati Reds as Nestor Cortes Jr. will try and make up for a poor last outing.

Boy has Judge really fallen back to earth.... Lot of 0fers and unclutch moments lately. Hoping he turns this ice cold stretch around. Barely a .220 average in his last 30 games. Doing his best to impersonate Hicks/Gallo lol
does finding out that Benintendi is one of the unvaccinated put an end to the NYY trade rumors?
assuming Sears, Peralta, Holmes and King are all unavailable for tonight...
is it Chapman, Luetge and Castro...and hope that Cortes goes 6?
