Hey, quick reminder ... Mothers' Day is Sunday. Don't forget!
Last night, the Yankees enjoyed another game against the Astros. As I'll say again below, it sounded like a great game. The only way for me to watch the game last night was with my ears. It was radio only.
With the win, the Yankees have now won nine consecutive games against the Astros. Nice. I'd like the Yankees to win nine-in-a-row against every team.
The Yankees are 25-13 on the season. The Yankees have won 9 of 12 series this year.
Quick Stats:
WP - Carlos Rodon: 6.1 ip, 2 runs, 7 strikeouts
LP - Spencer Arrighetti
HR (Yankees) - Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton
The Big Story:
The Yankees always win when Kyle Tucker hits a first inning homer for the Astros against them this year. Always.
The Yankees scored and scored. It's nice when they score in more than one inning. Consistency is a good thing. Last night they scored two runs in the first, one run in the second inning, two runs in the third inning, three runs in the sixth inning, and one in the eighth inning. That is working and that's the way to do it. (They got the big hits on the Prime -TV.)
Carlos Rodon battled, reached the seventh inning, and earned the win.
Player of the Game:
Juan Judge or Aaron Soto or however you'd like to say it. Juan Soto had three hits and five runs batted in. Aaron Judge had three hits and three runs batted in. (If Soto and Judge have eight combined rbi's each game, the Yankees will win a lot of games.)(If Soto and Judge get eight rbi's each game, the Yankees could sign me and I'd win 20 games.)
Notable Performances:
Giancarlo Stanton homered again. This homer was hit at 119.9 MPH. I don't care much for "exit velo," but that was impressive!
Austin Wells had two hits!
Better To Forget:
It sounded like (I didn't see it) Gleyber Torres and Anthony Volpe helped run the Yankees out of an inning and a chance for Aaron Judge to bat with the bases loaded. I'd like to see what happened, but it sounded like a bad play.
Gleyber Torres went hitless (although he did walk twice) and it sounded like he made a nice defensive play late in the game on a ground ball he glove flipped to first for the out.
I would like the Yankees to forget that dumb sound they play at the stadium with two strikes. It's old. It's dumb. It's annoying. It adds nothing to the game experience. In fact, it detracts from the game experience. It's horrible. Stop the dumb noises, please.
Ian Hamilton is not pitching well. At all.
My Take:
This sounded like a great game. It sounded fun to watch. This was a Prime-TV game. In other words, if you don't have Prime, you didn't get to see it. I listened to the game on the radio. I'm a big fan of Justin Shackil, but Emmanuel Berbari had the game (with Suzyn Waldman). Berbari did a fine job, but I prefer Shackil.
Emmanuel Berbari kept calling the Yankees' blue in their uniform "navy blue," but it isn't navy blue. It is midnight blue.
Spencer Arrighetti pitched for the Astros and I kept hearing "Righetti." Dave Righetti is oft-forgotten, but he was a special Yankee - one of my favorites of all time.
I was worried about Aaron Judge for most of the season. He must have wanted to put me at ease. He had a hit on May 3. He had two hits on May 4. He had two hits on May 5. He had one hit on May 7. Last night, he had three hits. He has driven in at least one run in the last four games.
I think I need to get concerned about Ian Hamilton.
Juan Soto is batting .338. He is so fun. So so so fun!
Next Up:
The Yanks and the Astros close the season series today at 5:05 p.m. The Yankees will look to sweep the season series. Wouldn't it be nice? God only knows, but I'm getting good vibrations.
Marcus Stroman will be on the mound for New York. Ronel Blanco pitches for the Astros.

you might even say Juan Soto is so so So to fun obviously i am gonna keep cheering for the Yankees regardless, but I do not want to even imagine how sad I am going to feel, if they do not sign him beyond this year if you would have told me any time in the last 5 years to pick any (non yankee) player to add to the Yankee roster, Soto would have been my pick i would have loved to see them get either Freeman or Matt Olson
love M Betts but obviously redsox were NOT trading him to the yankees
and plenty of other players on other teams that i enjoy a lot and would be happy to see in…
the offense is picking up.
the Yankees are scoring more, hitting more HRs and trailing only one or two other AL teams in runs scored per game.
they DO lead in league in walks.... which allows them to lead in OBP.... and which also allows them to basically match Baltimore for the league lead in OPS
and the Yankee pitchers are doing their part.
May is starting out in a merry manner
Also, if you ever have to miss an entire Yankee telecast, I love the "Condensed Game" feature on Gameday. It allows you to watch the entire game, every half inning, in about 8 minutes, just showing the last pitch of each at-bat resulting in either an out or a hit.

It could be worse. Since I moved to Los Angeles from New York 21 years ago, I only see Yankee games on TV when they are on national networks like ESPN and FOX, for example. OR....when the Yankees play the Los Angeles Angels, or interleague games against the Los Angeles Dodgers, I see them on the Angels and Dodgers local telecasts. (I miss Vin Scully, not the same without him). I don't get New York radio here either. Yet, I …
