Just to add to my point, if Joe Torre and Buck Showalter were to trade places and Joe managed the Yankees the years that Buck did (early 1990's), and Buck managed the years Joe did (late 1990's, early 2000's), it would be Buck with all those championships and wins and Joe with the much lower win total. Just like Joe Torre was a big winner with the Yankees but managed 5 Mets teams to last place. So it is all about the teams they are given, if they are given a good team, a mediocre team, or a bad team, that determines their success.
A manager is a reflection of the team he manages. Give a manager a very good team and he will win with that good team, barring injuries and slumps. Give that same manager a bad team and he will lose with that team. It is more about roster construction than it is strategic moves that either work or don't work for a manager.
