According to Yankees' GM Brian Cashman, it looks like CC Sabathia will be out until July.
Up to this point in the season, Sabathia is 3-4 with a 5.28 ERA and 4.73 FIP.
More from Sherman:
“It will be no sooner than six weeks from now,” Cashman said in discussing a potential return date for Sabathia.
Sabathia received a stem cell treatment injection in his inflamed right knee from Dr. James Andrews late last week. Cashman said the Yankees were informed that if the process works, it would be a minimum of six weeks. Which means the Yankees would be without the lefty until July.
As for a possible trade for starting pitching, Cashman said, "nothing has materialized [on the trade market].” And added, “Generally at this time of year, nothing materializes. We will keep an eye out to see if something does.”
One more pitching update from the Sherman article: Michael Pineda is pitching bullpen sessions and if everything goes as planned, he will be back the second week in June.
