Report: MLBPA Wanted To Kick Out Rodriguez

According to Jeff Passan and Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports, in a conference call last week of 40 players and board members of the MLB Players Association, representatives pushed to have Alex Rodriguez kicked out of the union. Following Rodriguez' latest lawsuit against the Players Association, no member defended Rodriguez in the discussions to eliminate his membership. However, union leaders made it clear that the MLBPA cannot legally pursue his expulsion. There were a number of interesting quotes coming out of the conference.

"When he gets up to bat, you can hit him and hit him hard, that's what I'd do. He sued us. Jhonny Peralta and Nelson Cruz screwed up. You know what? They owned up to it. They took their medicine."

"[Rodriguez] needs to be scared of coming back and facing people he sued. If he can't fear the wrath of getting kicked out or not being included, he's going to be forced out."

It seems that Rodriguez is burning every bridge he can. If he ever returns to baseball, he's going to find a lot of chin music. As Moshe pointed out on twitter, at least his OBP will remain high.
