Thursday night news and notes: MLBPA Chief Weiner passes away, A-Rod's arbitration hearing is over

Michael Weiner, who was the executive director of Major League Baseball's Player Association, passed away at the age of 51 after a battle with inoperable brain cancer. Weiner was diagnosed in 2012. He joined the union in September 1988, became its head counsel in 2004 and replaced Donald Fehr as executive director in December 2009.
