Quick hit: The return of Jeter may be upon us

Two years ago today, Yankee fans were still on a baseball high a day after witnessing Derek Jeter reach and surpass the 3000 hit plateau on a steamy July afternoon in the Bronx. Today, those same fans are excited because Jeter, according to reports, will finally be making his season debut this coming Friday night against the Minnesota Twins. After 90 games of injuries, setbacks, poor offense and even more injuries and setbacks, Yankee fans are looking forward to possibly having their captain back with the team.

The news of Jeter's return was first reported by Craig Carton of WFAN:

So what does this actually mean for the Yankees? Well, if they feel like they don't want to rush Jeter into playing shortstop everyday, they can always use him as the DH. I'm pretty sure he'll do a lot better than Travis Hafner's .217 BA. And I really didn't want to sound like one of those sappy, sentimental people but having Jeter back could also help boost the team's morale.
