Yankees 3, Twins 2: Three in a row

I think I've asked this at least three times this past week but can the Yankees play the Twins all the time? Please? Things didn't look great early. The Yankees couldn't get anything going against Minnesota's starter P.J. Walters and CC Sabathia gave up runs in the third and fifth innings - one on a Joe Mauer RBI double and the other on a Trevor Plouffe solo home run.

After Plouffe's home run, the Yankees came to bat in the next inning and thanks to a Robinson Cano two-run double and a Lyle Overbay sac fly, found themselves with a lead for Sabathia.

Sabathia, who lasted through the seventh, allowed two runs and struck out nine and threw a season high 121 pitches. He worked into and out of trouble a few times but limited the damage and picked up his 9th win of the season. It was also the 200th of his career.

The Yankees only had four hits total - Cano had two of them, Ichiro Suzuki had one - a double - and Travis Hafner had the other.

David Robertson and Mariano Rivera combined for two scoreless innings and Rivera picked up his 28th save of the season.

The Yankees will go for the holiday sweep tomorrow. The holiday being the birthday of one George M. Steinbrenner. What holiday did you think I was talking about?
