Game 66: For the love of God, just win one game...

Would it be too much to ask of the Yankees to try and avoid getting swept out of Oakland again? Last year, it happened in a four-game series. This year, they're a loss away from being swept in a three-game series. Both CC Sabathia and Phil Hughes had disappointing performances and Yankee fans are hoping that Hiroki Kuroda rebounds from his start in Seattle on Friday in which he was fine until a really odd and ultimately unlucky fourth inning that resulted in the Mariners scoring all four of their runs with two outs.

I was watching that inning unfold while drinking terrible beer in a bar up in Oswego, New York. My favorite play was when the ball hit second base and ricocheted into right field. That was really fun to see.

Anyway, the Yankees will try to salvage this trip to Oakland with a win this afternoon. Standing in their way is Jarrod Parker who is 5-6 with a 4.68 ERA. Oh, sure, I've seen this movie before. A pitcher with an ERA north of four going up against the anemic Yankee offense? Parker's definitely going seven innings, will give up maybe one run and hold the Yankees to only one extra base hit.

(Sorry to be so negative but this weather we're having here in the northeast is depressing.)

Here's the lineup Kuroda will be facing: Jaso DH Smith LF Lowrie SS Donaldson 3B Moss 1B Reddick RF Young CF Sogard 2B Norris C

I posted the Yankees lineup earlier but here it is again: Gardner CF Nix SS Cano 2B Teixeira 1B Hafner DH Youkilis 3B Wells LF Ichiro RF Stewart C
