Game 45: Hughes looks to find fastball command

New York Yankees v Seattle Mariners Andy McCullough of the Star-Ledger wrote a story about tonight's starter Phil Hughes. In it, Hughes describes how he felt after his last start, an outing that lasted only two-thirds of an inning - the shortest of his career - and in which he gave up seven earned runs on six hits. The big blow was a grand slam that came off the bat of Raul Ibanez.

“It was tough,” Hughes said. “I think it’s the first time I’ve not gotten out of the first. It was especially tough, the last one. It took me a couple days to get over it. It’s never something you want to go through. But it is what it is. And I’m excited about tomorrow, and officially putting that one out of my memory bank.”

One positive is that the last Wednesday's outing was so short, Hughes will be fresh for tonight's start. Hopefully, the results will be a lot better than last week.
