Thursday morning Yankees news and notes: 3/7/12

If you go to Google News's realtime coverage of Mark Teixeira, there are 200 articles about the wrist pop heard around the world. That's a little nutty but understandable. With the way the Yankees' 2013 season is already going - and it hasn't even started yet - there will be a lot of stuff written about everything no matter how big or small.

I'm sure you all know the news by now but in case you don't because you were hanging out with Kim Jung Un as he was plotting, yet again, to bomb the United States, Teixeira is out for 8-10 weeks thanks to that strained wrist tendon.

Here are a few of those aforementioned 200 articles:

Then we have Bill Madden of the New York Daily News writing about Robinson Cano having to step up while the rest of the lineup is dropping like flies. No pressure, Robbie.

Next, David Lennon of Newsday writes how Tex's injury is almost a worst-case scenario for the Yankees.

The Yankees are taking on the St. Louis Cardinals this afternoon in Roger Dean Stadium at 1:05 p.m. We don't have the lineup yet but will post it as soon as we get it.

One last thing, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News is tweeting pictures of David Phelps working in the bullpen this morning. He also mentioned that it was only 46 degrees right now in Tampa. That's a little brisk.
