Spring Training: Dominican Republic 8, Yankees 2

Hey, it could have been a lot worse for the Yankees today. This same Dominican Republic team beat up on the poor Phillies yesterday scoring 15 runs on 28 hits. At least the Yankees held DR to only eight runs on 13 hits. All kidding aside, there were some good things in this game, like Hiroki Kuroda's performance. He pitched three scoreless innings, gave up two hits, struck out four and didn't walk a batter.

Oh, and Zoilo Almonte ended a no-hitter by hitting a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. Up until that home run, Dominican pitchers Vidal Nuno, Jose Veras and Juan Cedeno held the Yankee batters to just two walks.

The Yankees also committed two errors - both by Dan Johnson. So their box score line was 2-2-2. Not sure what this means but hopefully it's not bad and doesn't have an effect on Derek Jeter.

Robinson Cano had a hit and an RBI for the Dominican team and in even better news, he didn't get injured.

Tomorrow, the Yankees will take on the St Louis Cardinals in Roger Dean Stadium at 1:05 p.m.
